Ecological functioning and sustainable management of banana and pineapple cropping systems

The unit is attached to the scientific department Performances of tropical production and processing systems (Persyst), which conducts studies on tropical production (family farming and cash production) at the plot, farm and small processing company level.

It develops functional agro-ecological research and mobilizes this knowledge to support a partnership-based innovation approach to improve the environmental, economic and social sustainability of banana and pineapple farming systems. Finally, its research aims to support the agro-ecological transition of intensive monocultures (plantain bananas, pineapples) to promote the emergence of resilient cropping systems with improved agronomic performance, in order to contribute to food security in Southern countries.
