Scientific strategy

The Foundation’s scientific strategy takes a dual approach: disciplinary, i.e., strengthening the scientific knowledge base in the key fields, and integrative, i.e., articulating knowledge from different disciplinary fields in order to understand complex systems and to meet the strategic challenges linking agriculture and society.

Five disciplinary fields

  • plant biology
  • biology of plant biotic interactions
  • agronomy and management of agro-ecosystems
  • food science and non-food processing
  • human and social sciences and agriculture-society interactions

Strategic cross-cutting challenges for the agro-ecological transition

  • adaptation to climate change and mitigation of its effects
  • conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity
  • responsible production and consumption
