Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique

The French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) is Europe’s top agricultural research institute and the world’s number two centre for agricultural sciences. Its researchers are working towards solutions for society’s major challenges in the fields of food, agriculture and environment.

INRA was created in 1946 as a response to a key societal challenge: feeding France. Today, its research focuses on three highly interconnected fields: food, agriculture and environment. The objective is to develop agricultural approaches that are competitive yet respectful of the environment, territories and natural resources, as well as being better suited to people’s nutritional needs and to the new uses of agricultural products.
Its goal now is to “sustainably feed the world”.
