Agropolis Fondation supports Agro2010 - The International Scientific Week around Agronomy


Agro2010 will take place in Montpellier, August 29 to September 03, 2010

Being in Montpellier during the International Scientific Week around Agronomy AGRO2010 (August 29th-September 3rd) means having the opportunity of taking part in different scientific trails adapted to your needs combined with leasure time, as follows:

Sunday afternoon, August 29th: take time to register, display your poster, check your presentation, share the welcome cocktail with a fine selection of French wines and later on enjoy an entertaining evening, in the Rabelais Theater (if you are not reluctant to French language!).

Monday, August 30th: Science will meet Institutions and Agrobusiness through debates on the scientific challenges for Agronomy and how we deal with them in 6 short sessions introducing the key questions for the following days of the week.

Tuesday, August 31st: the 11 sessions will bring you at the interfaces between agronomy and other disciplines (plant biology and genetics, ecology, social sciences) where the challenges for food security, adaptation to climate change, biodiversity, resource conservation and sustainable development should be launched.

Wednesday, September 1st: 9 sessions will drag you to the Heart of Agronomy with the three ESA scientific divisions and detail the Art of a scientific discipline which is also a profession.

From Thursday, September 2nd to Saturday, September 4th, go to the SupAgro-Inra-CIRAD-IAMM Campus for sharing of knowledge, expertise and developing collaborative programs through the following:

* Scientific Symposium on Agronomy in Action with development institutions, technical institutes and agrobusiness (September 2nd ).

* Courses on methods and concepts for Dynamic Modelling and Integrated Assessment of Agricultural Systems (September 2nd to 4th).

* Two workshops, on invitation only: the ECSAS workshop on Adaptation of Agriculture to Climate Change and the CIRAD workshop on Ecological Intensification in the Tropics (September 3rd)

Thursday, September 2nd: enjoy a break with field trips "Culture and Agriculture in Languedoc" to discover amazing historical places, typical landscapes of Southern France, innovative cropping systems, and to taste local gastronomy!
