Annual cropping systems (SCA)

Director: Florent Maraux florent.maraux@cirad.fr
Website:
Research area

The unit aims to develop efficient, sustainable cropping systems, specially annual tropical crops (cotton, sugar cane, rain-fed rice), from an economic, social and environmental perspective. It also aims to expand to all systems including cereals and pulses. Researchers bring together scientific fields such as the analysis of interactions between genotypes and the environment, ecophysiology, agronomy, bio-aggressors and technology at the cultivated plot level.

International partnership is mainly developed in Africa, Madagascar and La Réunion.

Research highlights
  • Agro ecology and ecological modelling
  • Ecophysiology ( focus on rice, cotton, sugar cane)
  • Soil science and management
  • Integrated pest management / Spatial ecology
  • Biometry
