’Characterisation of the nutritional composition of Ghanaian fruits and vegetables and the impact of cooking methods’
3 May 2021’Micronutrient deficiencies are widespread in Ghana, linked to diets that are predominantly starch-based with less fruits and vegetables. Ghana produces a variety of fruit and vegetables, but little is known about these products and their nutritional importance. The aim of the project was therefore to measure the micronutrient contents in various fruit and vegetables, in order to identify the best sources and have convincing data for their recommendation, as well as evaluate the impact of (...)

Numerical analysis of forested slopes integrating the time and space dynamics of trees in the stand
3 May 2021This project has set up a battery of digital tools and 2D and 3D models (based on the finite element method, FEM) to analyze in a generic way the influence of vegetation on slope stability. These tools and models take into account the mechanical effects (soil reinforcement by roots) and water (influence of roots on soil hydraulic conductivity and water status of the slope). They have been used in studies conducted in Togo (unpublished results) and on the Loess Plateau in China (results (...)

Le transport de l’auxine, régulateur-clé des réponses de développement racinaire à l’azote chez Arabidopsis thaliana et Casuarina glauca
3 May 2021The aim of this project was to investigate how nitrogen availability modulates local auxin gradients within the root system, and how this results in changes in root or nodule development. Two biological models were used: i) Arabidopsis thaliana, where the aim is to determine how nitrate (NO3-) sensing by the AtNRT1.1 NO3- transporter regulates the root system architecture through altered auxin transport, and ii) Casuarina glauca, where the aim is to determine the role of auxin transport in (...)

Effect of bio-based polymeric additives on plant root germination and development and their impact on root endosymbiotic interactions
3 May 2021Stimulated by the International Group "Rhodia-Operations-Solvay", a collaborative research project was created on the Agropolis Fondation plateform (Montpellier) in 2012 with the following topic: Use of plant biostimulants for agriculture. This project is supported by both the International Group and the Labex Agro in 2013 then managed by the University of Montpellier 2 (period 2013-2017). Today, it integrates several teams from diffrents research units (UMR DIADE, BPMB, IATE) belonging to (...)

A tool for designing sustainable production systems - the case of the peach/brown food pair Modeling of Peach-Monilia ideotypes
3 May 2021The peach-brown rot couple is a complex system under the triple influence of the genotype (fungus and host), the environment and cultural practices. Studying this system could lead to a reduction of fungicide use and thus to ecological, economical and health benefits. With the support of Agropolis Fondation, an interdisciplinary team of scientists from INRA conducted a study to illustrate how a model-based design approach could be used as decision making tool in handling such a complex (...)

’AWARD : Biological control of mycotoxin contamination in food and development of a rapid detection method’
3 May 2021’Hosting of a Fellow Award to (1) study and characterise the antagonism between selected biocontrol agents and mycotoxigenic strains and (2) develop a rapid mycotoxin detection method.’

’Genetic diversity of coffee trees for drought tolerance’
3 May 2021’Plants exchanged under this project are being evaluated (phenotypic) within trials established in Brazil (EMBRAPA), French Guyana (CIRAD) and Cameroon (IRAD), following exchanges of plant materials that were made officially through signed MTAs between partners. Exchanges will continue in 2014, including the transfer to Guyana and to Cameroon of C. arabica F1 hybrids first created in 2012 (H1) then in 2013 (H2) using progenitors from Cameroon and Brazil. These transfers should also continue (...)

The response of natural Arabidopsis accessions to salt stress - A French-Chinese initiative
3 May 2021SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME: Previous studies on 13 natural accessions of Arabidopsis have revealed a marked variability of the water transport properties (i.e. hydraulic architecture) of the roots of these plants. In this project, we have combined molecular and biophysical approaches to characterize the response to salt stress of the roots of 5 of these accessions. Measurements of the root hydraulic conductivity (Lpr) by means of a pressure chamber technique revealed that this parameter shows a (...)
