Agro&Grains - Involving plant and environmental sciences in the 8th International Conference on Micromechanics of Granular Media: Powder&Grains, 3-7 July 2017, Montpellier

The specific objective of this application is to foster the emergence of new approaches in biology, agronomy, ecology and environmental sciences, by bringing together communities from different disciplines that have little opportunity to interact. The new interdisciplinary research fronts involving these different fields associated with the physics of divided media are considerable: modelling and understanding of cellular interactions during the development of living organisms (morphogenesis), formation of soil aggregates in agricultural environments and the fight against erosion and landslides, adaptation of plants to pulverulent or granular polydispersed soils, root anchoring of plants, agri-food processes for the manufacture of flours or powders, etc.

Support for the organisation of the Powder&Grains 2017 conference
AF support :
- Support for the travel expenses of students and researchers
- Support for the organisation of the round table

Main thematic sessions :
- A special session on soils and their interactions with plants will be organised during the conference. This session will be an opportunity to present the results of the RoSoM project supported by Agropolis Fondation.
- A round table discussion involving agronomic biologists, soil scientists and environmental scientists will be organised and moderated by a member of the labEx Agro and a guest researcher, with the aim of bringing out new research fronts involving these communities.

Organisation of the conference already started more than a year ago.
