Abstract

Support for the organisation of the colloquium "Pastoralism in the current of global changes" in Dakar.

The objectives of the conference are to
- To situate the major changes facing livestock farming, livestock keepers and systems, in the plurality of perceptions of operational, institutional and scientific actors
- To specify the challenges, obstacles and opportunities that pastoralism is facing
- Assess the issues for the future in terms of
o contribution to the economy and food in the emergence of concerns such as agro-ecology, globalisation, the fight against poverty and security
o adaptation to climate change and mitigation of climate impacts
o resilience to vulnerability, poverty and risk
o technical and organisational innovations
o ecosystem contribution to service production;
o public policy support,
- To explore together the alternatives around which farmers, research, public organisations and policy makers could orient their future actions.
