This conference was the third organized by the Resilience Alliance after Stockholm 2008 and Phoenix 2011, which had respectively themes "Resilience, adaptation and transformation in turbulent times" and "Resilience, innovation & sustainability: navigating the Complexities of global change." In choosing the theme "Resilience & development: Mobilizing for transformation" conference 2014 is placed in thematic continuity with previous, continuing reflection on the patterns of change between mitigation, adaptation, transformation. The originality of this event was the reflection on the issue of development, to cause the encounter between the world of development operators who are mobilizing on the issue of resilience and development. Declination of this general orientation, the call for papers for speakers proposed six themes: Development challenges through a resilience lens, Trade-offs and synergies, Analyzing and promoting change and transformation, Knowledges, Whose development, whose resilience? New methodology and tools
Agropolis foundation was asked to support the arrival of different participants (teachers, students, researchers from poorer countries). This funding was associated with several other funding from other donors to support the participation of students and researchers from less favored countries.
The conference was attended by nearly 1,000 people, nearly two hundred sessions were organized. A master class was attended by nearly 150 students from many countries.
