Abstract

This research project aims to implement a systems biology approach to model the gene regulatory networks governing adventitious root formation in cereals. The modelling and topological analysis of these networks will make it possible to identify the master regulatory genes that constitute the major hubs of the network. These master regulatory genes will be functionally validated and used to modify the root architecture of cereals (rice, maize - extension to wheat envisaged in a second phase). In a second phase of this work, the capacity of the modified plants obtained to exploit water or nitrogen resources in the soil will be evaluated.
