This project is a continuation of a multidisciplinary research initiative on the development of family farming products in the Cerrado biome. As part of this initiative, the Innova-Cerrado international seminar was held at the University of Brasilia in December 2013 to present several research papers on institutional innovations to promote family farming practices associated with the sustainable use of biodiversity in this biome. (http://www.inovacerrado.org/index.htm).
The general objective of the project is to characterise the socio-technical and institutional innovations for the conservation and valorisation of the Cerrado biome through agro-extractivism activities.
The two sub-objectives are
• To analyse the potential of local family farming systems to valorise agro-extractivism in the Cerrado biome
• To identify and analyse socio-institutional innovations in terms of transformation and enhancement of the socio-biodiversity of the products of the Cerrado biome
