The LabEx AGRO

Labex Agro

The LabEx AGRO, coordinated by Agropolis Fondation, received funding of 25 million euros as part of the Laboratoires d’Excellence (Laboratories of Excellence) call for projects under the Investissements d’Avenir (Future Investments) programme. It was evaluated as A+ and awarded joint first place by the LabEx international evaluation jury.

The LabEx AGRO focuses on plants of agronomic interest. It brings together 41 research units under the authority of 12 partner establishments and more than 1 500 scientists, forming a continuum of multidisciplinary knowledge (biological sciences, engineering sciences, human and social sciences) ranging from the study of genes to the final use of plants, and benefiting from proven expertise on a large number of temperate, Mediterranean and tropical plant species.

The scientific expertise of the network is organised around five closely linked scientific fields:

  • Genetics and genomics, plant breeding, ecophysiology;
  • Plant pests and diseases, integrated crop protection, population ecology;
  • Agro-ecosystem management;
  • Management of processing technologies and quality of food and non-food products;
  • Social management of innovation.
