Climate-smart agriculture (CSA), as defined by FAO contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals. « It integrates the three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, social and environmental) by jointly addressing food security and climate challenges ». It is composed of three main pillars :
sustainably increasing agricultural productivity and incomes;
adapting and building resilience to climate change;
reducing and/or removing greenhouse gases emissions, where possible.
CSA in Montpellier (2015)
The CSA 2015 conference in Montpellier will be the third CSA Conference. Its specific objectives are i) to go a step further in addressing key research issues, ii) to gather facts and figures from developing and developed countries, iii) to pave the road for future cooperation initiatives, iv) to reduce to the science-policy gap.
