The acceleration of climate change (CC) poses many challenges for territories. In response, several frontier organisations have emerged internationally and in France, such as the Réseau d’Expertise sur les CC en Occitanie (RECO). These structures act as intermediaries between scientific communities and decision-making mechanisms through three missions:
1) to gather relevant, credible and legitimate information,
2) to ensure multidirectional communication between actors and
3) to develop an efficient transfer of scientific knowledge (Ronsin, 2016; Cash et al., 2003).
One of the actions to achieve this is the publication of a regional inventory of knowledge on CCs, as done by counterparts in neighbouring regions (AcclimaTerra in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and GREC SUD in PACA). However, Occitania does not have such a reference document on which territorial actors can rely to reorganise themselves in the face of climate impacts. To fill this gap, RECO is coordinating the development of the 1st Occitanie Regional Paper on CC (CROCC_2021), which proposes an inventory of the observed and future climate trends and impacts, and the possibilities of adaptation to cope with them. Its publication in autumn 2021 will coincide with the release of the 6th IPCC report, an opportunity to highlight the research conducted within the Agropolis network.
Building on the strengths already present within the group, the objective of the Plant Health project is double:
